The George Hotel is a landmark hotel in Edinburgh which has recently undergone a £20 million refurbishment. The architectural detail of the Grade II listed facade is complemented by exquisite interiors, from the bedrooms to the beautiful King's Hall. The buildings date back to 1775, when Edinburgh's New Town development was at its peak, and it was first opened as a hotel in 1881, a conversion from three Georgian houses. Edinburgh's best shopping, restaurants and nightlife can be found on the doorstep of the George Hotel. Edinburgh Waverley train station, with direct services to London Kings Cross, is only a five minute walk away.

A recent £20m renovation and expansion programme at the George Hotel Edinburgh offers guests a deluxe hotel experience, perfectly situated on thriving George Street.

The boutiques, nightlife and the best restaurants are on your doorstep and Edinburgh's major attractions are all close by. The hotel's 249 bedrooms, a number with views of Edinburgh Castle or the Firth of Forth, have been transformed and given a contemporary new look, blending a Scottish colour palate with modern touches.

We've also created the Kings Hall, a magnificent new events room seating up to 300 delegates for conference and events. Eight additional state-of-the-art rooms will hold between 16 and 80 people for events and private dining. The hotel now also boasts one of George Street's coolest bar and restaurant adventures, Tempus, offering sophisticated contemporary surroundings and the best of local produce and international wines and cocktails.

February 2009 also saw the opening of a new 50 bedroom extension to the hotel bringing the total number of rooms to 249. The spectacular new Panorama Suite with stunning Edinburgh views and terraces also opened; available for private events for up to 50, the Panorama is unique in Edinburgh.
